Lyme Regis is surrounded by beautiful countryside and hills next to a stunning coastline with World Heritage Site status. Nicknamed the "Pearl of Dorset", the town overlooks Lyme Bay - a spectacular setting that has been used in the book 'The French Lieutenant's Woman' and a number of other feature films. The town has a reputation as a creative hotbed, with many artists, authors and craftsmen drawn by its inspirational setting. There are many craft and fossil shops located in the main street and small side roads. Entertainment is in the form of local pubs, restaurants, cafes (some allow you to sit outside and eat), a cinema and The Marine Theatre where you can watch live shows and concerts.
